Lagos native Helen Williams has set a new world record for sporting the longest handmade wig. The meticulously crafted wig, an astonishing 351.28 metre (1,152 feet 5 inch) in length, has captured the attention of netizens.

Williams, a resident of Lagos, Nigeria, spent 11 days and two million naira (Rs 1,80,584 to Rs 2,25,720) to create the hairpiece. It was made with 1,000 bundles of hair, 12 cans of hairspray, 35 tubes of hair glue, and 6,250 hair clips.

“This achievement is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I still cannot believe it,” Williams said to Guinness World Records. She expressed her joy and gratitude for the support she received from her community and emphasised the importance of embracing one’s identity.
