“There’s Nothing to Be Embarrassed About”: Joey Fatone on Fat Removal and Getting Hair Plugs

After years in the spotlight, former boybander Joey Fatone is hoping to “edit” his look with the help of fat removal procedures and hair plugs.

“Men get stuff done too,” he told People of his decision to discuss how his new appearance came about. “It’s crazy how many guys get work done. They don’t broadcast it because a lot of men are very shy or embarrassed about it, but there’s nothing to be embarrassed about! I’m never afraid to tell people about this stuff. Who cares?”

Fatone, who made his name as a member of the pop group *NSYNC and now makes the rounds on shows such as Dancing With the Stars and other reality competitions as a host or participant, as well as the My Big Fat Greek Wedding movies, said that he got plugs two years ago because spraying his hair to go on camera “was just a pain in the butt.”

He underwent AirSculpt, a fat removal procedure, on his chin and stomach, and announced a partnership with the company in October. Fatone said the decision to have the procedure isn’t for any specific event, such as an *NSYNC reunion tour (“We actually haven’t had that conversation yet”), but for himself.

“At a certain age you can’t bounce back or recover like you used to be able to,” said the father of two. “Not to say that we used to be about sex, drugs, and rock and roll, but we were able to do a lot more things because we were younger.”

He’s happy with the results he’s seeing, he said, with effects he wouldn’t be able to achieve on his own.

“I’ve had so many people in this industry tell me that I need to lose weight and look a certain way, blah blah blah,” he said. “I mean, I may lose a little bit of weight, but I’m still going to be the same person I’ve been. I’m not going to get drastically cut. Unless someone calls me up for a Marvel movie!”

“I’m not trying to change my look,” Fatone said. “I’m not trying to change who I am. I’m just trying to just edit it a little bit!”

What he’s saying is that he’s still going to be the one to keep the group text going, no matter who (doesn’t) respond.
