Tagovailoa debuted his new look to the media on Wednesday during his press conference.

He explained: “[I] got them done last week. So it’s been in for a week and a couple of days.

When asked if the decision was his, Tagovailoa said it was, adding: “My hair was outrageous. So, I thought if I didn’t braid it or if it wasn’t long enough that I’d just cut it. So, thought I’d just get it braided.”

The Pro Bowler said his “teammates love it,” as does his wife, Annah Gore.

During the press conference, one of the media members told Tagovailoa that he’d been compared to musician Drake on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“I don’t know if I look like Drake,” he replied, before imitating the Canadian as he began to sing “Kiki” from the song “In My Feelings” before copying one of Drake’s dance moves.

And when asked if NBA Hall of Famer Allen Iverson was an inspiration for his look, Tagovailoa said: “No AI inspiration, but dude’s a baller. Got a lot of respect for him.”

As alluded to during the interview, fans quickly flocked to X to discuss the style.

“Miami changes people MVP confirmed,” commented one fan.

Another said: “I think he is setup beast mode for 2nd half of the season.”

While a third added simply: “That’s fire.”

As for a potential MVP push, Tagovailoa said he was more interested in the Lombardi Trophy.

When asked, he told the media: “Brother, I just want to help our team win the Super Bowl.”

The 6-3 Dolphins’ Super Bowl push will continue this weekend as they host the 5-5 Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.
