Harry Styles has sparked online debate after debuting a new hairstyle, with fans taking to social media to argue whether the former One Direction star can pull off a buzzcut.
While some say they are “grieving” his signature curls, others have hit out at “hurtful” comments left under the photo that confirmed some fans’ worst fears.
Styles’ fragrance brand Pleasing was the first to confirm online rumours that the As It Was singer had opted for a buzzcut, sharing a photo of Styles at their launch.
Thousands of comments have been left underneath the photo, with some left shocked by the change.
“A part of me loves it, a part of me is crying on my bedroom floor,” one said, while others defended his choice, praising the star for not “caring what other people think”.
Another wrote that “everyone needs to get a grip” as the singer is “still the Harry we all know and love”.
It is not the first time that the former X Factor contestant has made headlines with his hair.
When he styled it into a bun in 2014, Styles’ was considered “the latest star to embrace the man-bun”.
He rocked the internet in 2015 when he straightened his hair for a One Direction gig, then again sending social media into a spin when he went for the chop in 2016.
Styles had to cut his hair into a shorter style while filming for his role in Dunkirk, donating it to The Little Princess Trust.
Within minutes, the hashtag #RIPHarrysHair began trending worldwide.
